Maya Shahani Views On Sindhi

Mrs. Maya Shahani is a committed Sindhi who is always helping in the field of Education and especially helping Sindhi Students. I met her on 2 Jan 2021.Mrs. Maya Shahani is on the Governing Board of the HSNC Board, which runs 27 prime educational institutes in Mumbai. She is the Chairperson of the Shahani Group and the Trustee of the Thadomal Shahani Trust. As per the new education policy, the children are to be given the first 5 years of education in their mother tongue. We Sindhis are happy about this policy. Here she is talking in favour of giving education from initial levels in School - in Sindhi Arabic Script and not in Devanagari. When children do not know Hindi how can they be taught in Devanagari in Std. I? We all find the problem of parents not talking in Sindhi with their children continues. Sindhi students are getting admission under Sindhi quota in Sindhi Managed colleges because they are Sindhi. But many of the students do not even speak in Sindhi. We all agree that we are not able to convince the parents to speak to their children in Sindhi. We suggest that the colleges should interview children with parents in SINDHI at the time of the admission under Sindhi quota. We shared this idea with Maya Shahani Ji. This will compel Parents to speak to their children in Sindhi right from their childhood. I am happy that we have received a positive response from all the trustees and Principals to whomever I have spoken about it. restigious Sindhi managed college. Our colleges are known for imparting the best education in Maharashtra. Students from all over India try to get admission in these colleges. This is going to force the parents to speak in Sindhi with their children so that their child gets admission into a proper prestigious Sindhi managed college.
